Antonia from Germany, a graduate in Foreign Languages Correspondence with an interest in marketing, recently completed a three-and-a-half-month Erasmus+ internship at Najell in Lund, Sweden.
What was your experience working at Najell? What were your responsibilities?
Working at Najell was an extremely positive experience for me. Sweden was my destination of choice for an Erasmus+ internship, as I had spent many holidays in the country and it holds a special place in my heart. At Najell, which is a company that designs and sells innovative products for parents and young families, I was part of the Social Media Marketing team. My main responsibilities focused on the German market, particularly influencer marketing, customer communication, and managing a project involving German midwives.
Did you have opportunities to take initiative or handle responsibilities independently?
Yes, I was entrusted with a lot of responsibility, particularly through independently managing the German midwife project and liaising with German influencers. Being trusted with my own projects made me feel like a true member of the team, rather than “just” an intern. It was highly motivating and rewarding to see that my work had a tangible impact.
What was the best activity or excursion you did during your stay?
Work-related, the company Christmas party was definitely a highlight, especially when a singer with a guitar unexpectedly started performing. On a personal note, attending an ice hockey game in Malmö was a highlight, particularly because a German schlager songs were played every time the Malmö team scored, which was both surprising and amusing.
Any advice for students considering an Erasmus+ internship?
I would highly recommend undertaking an internship for at least six weeks, as it took me around two months to feel fully confident and integrated into my role. A longer stay also allows more time to explore the country and immerse yourself in its culture.
