E-Commerce Park in Helsingborg, Sweden, has welcomed many Erasmus+ interns through Sandson. Community Manager Felicia shares her experience and her top tips for employers considering hosting European interns.
Please tell us a little bit about E-Commerce Park.
E-Commerce Park was founded in 2014 in Helsingborg, which is located in Sweden's reading region for e-commerce. The company's mission is to strengthen the Swedish e-commerce ecosystem and support the growth of e-commerce companies. It does so by offering a range of educational programs and events tailored to the e-commerce industry.
How many Erasmus+ interns from Sandson have you welcomed to date, and where have they come from?
We have welcomed three interns so far, including students from Germany and France. We will be welcoming an additional intern this spring, which we are very much looking forward to.
What type of qualities do you look for and appreciate in interns?
We value people who take initiative and run with their ideas, something all our Sandson interns have done. For example, two German interns with us significantly improved our presence on LinkedIn and other social media channels, and they created content that will be used over the next few months. They also set up our newsletter.
Has your experience of welcoming interns from Sandson met your expectations?
Absolutely! Every intern has contributed positively and brought new energy and perspectives to our team.
Do you have any advice to other companies considering hosting international interns?
I would recommend hosting interns for a longer period, at least four weeks, to make the experience truly beneficial. Many employers hesitate welcoming international interns, fearing it requires a lot of supervision, but this has not been the case for us. The interns have been self-sufficient and contributed enormously to our organisation. My advice is simpel: date to do it!
